A New Year's Prayer

Instead of making a New Year's resolution
Consider committing to a Biblical solution
Your promises are easily broken
Empty words, though earnestly spoken
But God's Word transforms the soul
By His Holy Spirit making you whole
As you spend time alone with Him
He will change you from within

A New Heart - Ezekiel 36:25-27 (NLT)
Eze 36:25   "Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols.
Eze 36:26   And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.[fn2]
Eze 36:27   And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.

Forgetting the Past - Philippians 3:13,14 (NLT)

Phl 3:13   No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it,[fn4] but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,
Phl 3:14   I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Learning from Past Mistakes - Hebrews 12:10,11 (NLT)

Hbr 12:10   For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God's discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness.
Hbr 12:11   No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it's painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.
